The father of a 10-year-old girl whose church was destroyed by arsonists in Washington state says God has been a “good guy” and is “always with” her.
The 10-month-old is currently in the custody of local authorities, but the family says she is “still alive.”
The girl’s father, Joel Wintrich, said he is “so grateful” that his daughter is alive.
He said the girl’s church was burning down on Wednesday when a man started lighting it on fire.
The church was about 150 yards away from the school.
“God was there, the Lord was there,” Wintfried said.
“He’s been with us every day, and the fire is still burning and he’s always with us.”
Wintrich said he has been praying for his daughter since she was born.
He also said that while the church may have been damaged, it has been spared.
The fire destroyed the second floor of the church in the city of Eagan, about 150 miles (240 kilometers) east of Seattle.
Wintwell said the building was used for church services and that it had been the church of the congregation of the First Congregational Church of the Nazarene.
The congregation of that church was also destroyed.
